Finding A Legitimate Direct Sales Home Business

Finding A Legitimate Direct Sales Home Business

Now that you decided to work from home, how do you go about finding a legitimate work at home opportunity? I came up with a list of guidelines you should consider when reading advertisements online while looking for a home business. These should help you weed out the potential scams that others offer. Please remember, if an opportunity sounds too good to be true, it most likely is!

1. Make sure you get the companies legal name and investigate it. You can find out info about a company by checking into the BBB (Better Business Bureau), DSA (Direct Selling Association), State Attorney General's Office, etc. I recommend you also try to find others who used to work for that particular business companty too as most of the time those who currently work for a particular business company will give you a biased opinion. So research any company before signing up!

2. Be leary of false advertising! Just because they say the are registered or listed with the BBB or DSA doesn't mean they are. If they save you will make a lot of easy money...well use common sense! If they say they are a successful 20+ year old company, doesn't mean its so. Research and check out everything. People will tell you anything to get you to sign up under them.

3. Visit WAHM (Work At Home Mom) Resource Web Sites and go to their chat rooms and message boards and ask questions. You might find others that had great success or others that got scammed by the business you are researching. Ask the webmasters of WAHM sites if perhaps they have any info about a particular business company.

4. Just because a particular opportunity is advertising at a xyz type of website doesn't mean its a LEGIT business opportunity.

5. Ask about any sale quotas or recruiting quotas upfront before signing up. Does a particular company require YOU to BUY products from them, yourself? Does a particular company require you to sell so MUCH in a time period? What happens when you don't meet these quotas? People get into home businesses to make money, not to spend it buying the companies products.

6. Is there a MONEY BACK Gaurantee? What all do they reimburse? How long is this guarantee valid for? If there is a guarantee, Get it in WRITING before signing up! If its sent via email, its not LEGAL by you justing printing it out. So get it in writing and make sure its on the companies letterhead, dated and signed.

7. Does this company have a toll-free representive support line? (you don't want massive phone bills by calling in for training and support). Does this company have a toll-free number for you to place orders? Make sure you ask about this.

8. Are there required Sales Force meetings? If so, how often? What happens if you don't attend? Make sure your schedule won't conflict with this.

9. Does this company require you to RECRUIT others into the business? Are you comfortable with recruiting others? Is your income solely based on recruiting others? If you are not good at recruiting others then this might not be the business opportunity for you.

10. Just because you see a flood of advertising ads from any one particular company every where you go doesn't mean that company or opportunity is LEGIT! Some companies target certain areas or focus their attention on certain groups. For example: Scammers know that there are thousands if not millions of females and mothers looking to work from home these days so they are flooding and concentrating their advertising on these prime target groups. Just because you see their advertisement every where doesn't make it a legit home business opportunity.

11. What type of support or training does a particular company give you? Is it free or will it cost you more money? What does this training and support entail? Just because your recruiter or advertiser says they offer unlimited support, that they are a successful team, best manager or whatever doesn't mean its true! Good support and training is key to you being successful in your new business!

12. Ask about Advertising? Are there any advertising restrictions that you have to worry about? Are you allowed to advertise in print newspapers? magazines? telemarketing? Online? You will want to advertise your new business to gain customers and/or recruits. Make sure you find out any restrictions before signing up!

13. Penalities? What I mean by this is...what happens if you are late paying on your account? Are there late payment fees? Are you terminated? Account closed or suspended? You need to know this because you can not predict any unforseen emergencies.

There are a lot of decisions and things to consider when deciding on the RIGHT home business for YOU! These are just a few things to consider.

Always INVESTIGATE, RESEARCH, TALK TO OTHERS and NEVER EVER rush into any decision. That company or opportunity will still be there tomorrow
