I rarely pay for advertising. Simply because, I don't have much extra money to pay for advertising.

I try to network with other work at home moms most anywhere I can. I use Ning networks, forums, yahoo groups, and yahoo messenger as a few of ways to connect with others.

Building trust and friendship among others online is a vital part of advertising. People don't normally want to buy from someone they don't recognize online. Build trust and make friends, and the easier it may be to get a few sales.

I don't always do a lot of business with the people I've met online, but I have made a lot of close online friends. And, I know when they need what I'm selling, they will probably come to me :)

I usually do the same thing. I join yahoo groups such as this one, I'm on girlshopspot.com, I use email marketing and I try to get some friends together to do a home party. I also usually send out postcard mailings

I belong to numerous Yahoo groups to advertise as well, such as Shopping_Pals and WAH4NearlyFree. Plus I use my space. And other network groups. In addition I do exchange text links on my site www.skattergoodz.com
I even tried sending out fillers, but got little result with that.
I have participated in online groups and got some interest from those as well.

I meant to say that I do link and banner exchanges also, I just forgot! lol

I also tried sending out fillers, I spent a LOT of money shipping business cards to several people, and never got the first sale or person interested in the LEAST. This doesn't mean it won't work for you. The company I was sending fillers for is a VERY populated business, this may be why I got nowhere from it.

I am using a viral marketing and lead generation service. It is absolutely free. In less than 2 weeks, I have a list of over 300 people that have agreed to receive my information and are still actively promoting for me. If you visit my Yuwie blog, you can see the video playing on this page. This is EXTREMELY effective for those who market to those in the work at home, online marketing and mlm arenas. (free)

I am also using Twitter as a marketing tool. I have just started another account for my work at home / affiliate promotions. I will transition this to coordinate with some viral marketing groups and sites that I have created. My site is http://www.twitter.com/viralmarketmom and I add all announcements here (links to what I am promoting that day), and then submit the Twitter RSS to my social bookmarking sites. This is working and is saving me time in having to submit the sites individually or enter my password in someone's "all inclusive" sites. I also have the twitter connected with my Facebook, Squidoo, Myspace and any other site that offers that feature. I start a new twitter for each client, program or marketing objective (free)

This is another program that has been helping my teams build web traffic, advertising credits and referrals for their business(es). Here is the tutorial blog for this advertising tool (free or upgrade)

Also using blogs, articles, word of mouth, partnerships, text ad programs, and I am addicted to social networks :)

I reserve link exchanges and SEO for personal business sites where I can exchange.

Hubpages & Squidoo are great for any type of business.

Ladies, I also use the "money making matrix" programs as list builders - this is not for everyone though, you know? It is good for recruiting strong teams.

How is twitter working out for you? I'm very new to it, and other than using it as a micro blog, I don't find it useful ....I am now used to installing anything as I am not that techy.

My proven forms of advertising are some yahoo groups. Blasting on yim, and newsletters, both through personal email or free service. Setting up groups on ning, and networking on ning and other sites.
